4700 Aldine Mail Rt. Organization Description To provide "one-stop shop" concept at the Aldine Y.O.U.T.H. Community Center, located in a low - middle income community offering educational, vocational, social, and recreational activities/programs for residents of all ages. This is achieved through partnerships with various area schools, churches, businesses, agencies, and talented volunteers. Description of Internship There are a variety of areas for internships: a. Asst. Program Coordinator - work with Program Director to plan, implement, and evaluate a variety of activities/programs. Hours: flexible, but mainly afternoon into evening and some weekends. b. Volunteer Coordinator - research and implement volunteer program including recruitment, training, monitoring, and recognition. Hours: flexible, but mainly daytime hours, some evenings and some weekend. c. Event Planner - assist in planning and coordinating special events and fundraising activities/programs. Hours: flexible but mainly daytime, but some evening and some weekends.
Minimum age - 20; Good communication skills - written and oral ( in person and on phone); Some basic computer knowledge; Creative, organized, dependable, personable, hard worker, likes working with people. Bilingual is a plus, but not a requirement. Open to all Social Science majors, but sociology and psychology majors may benefit the most from this experience.
