Organization Description

Star of Hope is a Christian organization dedicated to meeting the needs of the homeless. The primary goal is to help women and families recover from homelessness by identifying their social, educational, psychological, spiritual, financial, legal or substance abuse issues that contribute to homelessness and implementing treatment plans to remedy those issues.


Description of Internship

The purpose of this placement is to provide students an opportunity to learn about working in the non-profit sector with homeless individuals who are experiencing the following societal issues: mental and physical health problems, chemical dependency, domestic violence, generational poverty and co-dependency.


Criteria for Interns

Must be willing to complete at least 225 hours, and commit to three days a week. Must have a professional and caring attitude toward staff and clients, and adhere to the Star of Hope dress code, policies and procedures, including those related to client confidentiality.
