Campus Relations

The Campus Relations Office serves the UHD Community with respect to problem resolution, information sharing and policy interpretation on issues pertaining to sexual harassment, discrimination, harassment, and staff grievances. The Campus Relations Officer, Doug teDuits, also serves as the ADA Coordinator and Affirmative Action Officer.

The general responsibilities of the Campus Relations Officer are to

  • Provide procedural information to members of the UHD community who claim to be aggrieved or are concerned about a grievable employment and/or student issue.
  • Consult with parties in an attempt to clarify and resolve staff and student issues.
  • Consult, process and investigate charges of discrimination and sexual harassment from faculty, staff and students.
  • Develop and monitor the University’s Affirmative Action Program.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable university policies and federal and state laws regarding employment discrimination and equal opportunity programs.
  • Facilitate training programs for the campus community with regard to the rights of faculty, staff and students to work and/or study in an environment absent of discrimination, as well as dispute/conflict resolution.
  • Provide assistance to employees who seek reasonable accommodation(s) under the Americans with Disabilities Act.

The Campus Relations Office works in collaboration with other UHD departments, when necessary, in order to seek a fair resolution. Confidentiality is extremely important with all aspects of the Campus Relations Office and information will be shared on a “need to know” basis only. No person shall be subject to retaliation for filing a complaint or assisting others in an EEO-related investigation. Faculty, staff and students who wish to inquire about seeking guidance or filing a complaint may contact the Campus Relations Office for an appointment.
